RHYTHM

RHYTHM is a private villa in Bali where we explored how the movement of sound could be translated into architecture. Inspired by the rises, falls, density, and silence within music, we developed a spatial composition through shifting masses, layered materials, contrasting light, and changes in level.

Designed in a dark-toned modern tropical style, the villa presents a solid and introverted exterior to create a strong sense of privacy. With no significant views surrounding the site, we turned the landscape into part of the architectural response. An elevated and gently sloped garden frames the pool from the living area, creating an inward-looking connection to nature.

The experience unfolds through transitional spaces, bridges, and concealed passages. One of its defining moments is the underground living area, accessed through a hidden cabinet-like entrance and shaped with textured stone, filtered daylight, and dark finishes to evoke the atmosphere of a cave.

For us, RHYTHM is an exploration of privacy, contrast, and spatial movement within a contemporary tropical home.
