Magatta – Japanese Scandinavian House
A house with a fusion of Scandinavian and Japanese styles or commonly called Japandi. This fusion of East and West styles is popular because it creates a design that is “clean†and minimalist but still warm and comfortable. We call this house “Magatta,†a Japanese word that means to bend or turn. “Magatta†represents the shape of the “bent†ramp around the house to get to the 2nd floor. This ramp is a substitute for stairs so that the household can easily access the 2nd floor.\r\nWe designed this house with many openings but still maintained the household’s privacy by applying the concept of “double entrance,†with a gate on the main fence and a second gate to enter the house’s main area. In addition, the fence of the house is also made tightly without gaps so that there is no access to views from the outside into the house.\r\nDue to the owner’s privacy concern, the openings and cross ventilation we created are inside the building.
