Bintaro Design District 2024

Playground is an interactive architectural installation created by Lumbung Architect in collaboration with Aleria Contractor for Bintaro Design District 2024. Developed under the theme of Analog Reality, the installation explores the role of play as an essential part of childhood development and human interaction.

As architects, we see play not simply as an activity, but as a spatial experience. It supports physical, social, and emotional development while encouraging imagination and sensory exploration. Through Playground, we wanted to bring this idea back into the domestic environment—reminding us that a house can be more than a place to live; it can also become a place to play, connect, and grow.

The installation was inspired by our residential project, Jade House, designed around the personality, habits, and hobbies of its inhabitants. In this house, play becomes part of everyday life through elements such as an indoor slide, a multi-level swimming pool, and a pétanque court.

For Bintaro Design District 2024, Playground translates this architectural approach into an immersive and interactive installation. We invite visitors to experience architecture through movement, curiosity, and play—reconnecting physical interaction with the everyday spaces we inhabit.
